State of Florida’s Department of Corrections seeks a Master Electrician at Desoto Correctional Institution for maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical infrastructure and devices up to 600 volts. The role requires following codes, organizing work, and supervising inmate workers.

Qualifications include a high school diploma (or equivalent), 1 year of electrical experience (or 4+ years with training), and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent and at least one year of experience in the Electrical/Electrician field OR four or more years experience in the Electrical/ Electrician field (training can substitute for experience).
• A valid Driver’s License.
• Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs for all electrical systems, ensuring proper function.
• Conducts tests, maintains logs, and keeps records for equipment as per guidelines.
• Installs, alters, repairs, or replaces electrical infrastructure up to 600 volts.
• Follows local, state, and federal codes, safety procedures, and plans and organizes work, requisitioning necessary parts.
• Prepares reports and supervises inmates, participates in training, and performs related duties.
