Job summary

Shield AI in Dallas is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for the Hardware Test team to own the design and development of test systems that push aerospace hardware to its limits.

You will design PCBs, automate test sequences in Python, and build fixtures for power electronics, RF, and communications, while mentoring teammates and driving design-for-testability. This high-impact role requires hands-on debugging in rugged environments and a track record of delivering reliable hardware solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field.
• 3+ years of hardware design and test engineering experience (or advanced degree).
• Deep knowledge of electrical design, mechanical, and software principles as applied to hardware test systems.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and validate multidisciplinary hardware systems in fast-paced environments.
• Strong ownership mindset with track record of delivering results and mentoring others.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, validation, and deployment of advanced test systems for X-BAT components and subsystems.
• Architect PCBs and test interfaces for power electronics, RF, and communications.
• Develop automated test sequences in Python to ensure scalability and repeatability.
• Design and integrate custom test fixtures including relays, PLCs, PCBAs, and harnessing.
• Drive cross-functional design reviews and improve testability (DFT).
• Work hands-on with HASS, ESS, and HALT testing in simulated harsh environments.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to Shield AI’s hardware test engineering expertise.
