Job summary

High Power Media Ltd seeks a Lead Electrical Hardware Engineer to manage the avionics team responsible for in-house hardware across all product lines. You’ll oversee day-to-day tasking for contributors and report to the Electronic Systems Manager.

Responsibilities include leading flight hardware avionics development,, providing technical guidance, establishing design reviews, and shaping the avionics roadmap and R&D prioritization.

Qualifications

  • Experience in component/LRU electrical design.
  • Mentor and lead small teams of engineers.
  • Systems engineering experience for requirements, risks and integration flow.
  • Schematic and board design with Altium, Eagle, OrCAD or similar.
  • Rapid prototype development skills.
  • Strong debugging and signal conditioning design skills.
  • MS Office proficiency for documentation.

Job description

The Lead Electrical Hardware Engineer will be responsible for functional management of the avionics team that design, manufacture and test our in-house avionics hardware across all company product lines. You will manage the day-to-day tasking and prioritization for individual contributors who report to you. You will report to the Electronic Systems Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development of flight hardware avionics, including computing, signal conditioning, control electronics, filtering, data acquisition, and command & data handling (C&DH)
  • Lead daily operations, scheduling, and tasking for the avionics team
  • Providing technical and programmatic guidance to internal avionics team members (employees, subcontractors, consultants) and partner support personnel
  • Establish review process for avionics engineering products prior to release and manufacturing
  • Provide subject matter expertise in subsystem and vehicle phase-gate, milestone design reviews as independent reviewer
  • Define internal work processes and standards for hardware design, circuit analysis, test execution, and result documentation
  • Drive rapid troubleshooting, failure investigation, and resolution of electrical anomalies during component testing, vehicle assembly, and environmental testing
  • Contribute to avionics product roadmap and R&D prioritization

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in component/LRU electrical design
  • Ability to mentor and lead small teams of engineers to design complex products
  • Systems engineering (SE) experience for controlling requirements, risks, and integration flow
  • Schematic and board design proficiency using software like Altium, Eagle, OrCAD, or similar
  • Rapid prototype development skills
  • Strong debugging skillsExperience with communications protocols such as RS-422/RS-485/CAN/Ethernet/SPI/I2C/UARTDigital, analog, and signal conditioning design skills
  • Good communication and technical writing skills
  • Highly proficient with MSOffice tools
  • 8+ years of experience in electronics hardware development
  • B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Equivalent Work Experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing spacecraft electronics systems for a Class D unmanned spacecraft or similar
  • Experience in High-Speed Digital printed circuit board design
  • Experience implementing VITA VPX or SpaceVPX standards (VITA 46.0, VITA 65.0, VITA 78.0)
  • Microsoft Project/JIRA or similar task management and scheduling tools
  • Knowledge of Range Safety and Ground Safety electronics compliance
  • Capable of utilizing mechanical computer aided design (CAD) tools to develop avionics systems
  • Capable of programming FPGAs, microcontrollers, computer processors, graphic processors, or similar knowledge of NASA-STD 4001 and NASA-STD 4003 or similar
  • Knowledge of space environmental tests
  • Experience with testing for MIL-STD 461 or similar
  • M.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering
