Job summary

Thermo King, a unit of Trane Technologies, is seeking a Diagnostics Electrical Engineer to apply software engineering to TRU and diagnostics, developing applications to detect issues using sensor data, and integrating with cloud and on-site systems.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or higher in CS or EE, 8+ years of software development, experience with embedded controls in HVAC-R or automotive, Agile experience, and strong data analysis skills.

  • Proven background in real-world software design and implementation.
  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience with embedded control systems in HVAC-R, Automotive, or Off-Highway.
  • Strong understanding of embedded controls, security standards and best practices.
  • Experience with Agile environments and scrum processes.
  • Languages: C#, CSS, HTML, Java Script, Python.
  • Knowledge of databases and cloud-native services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide software engineering expertise to a multidisciplinary TRU and diagnostics team.
  • Develop applications to detect issues in TRU systems using sensor data.
  • Support and enhance applications for diagnosing TRU data sets.
  • Adapt existing applications to evolving software architectures and platforms.
  • Validate application performance through automation, testing frameworks, and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with local and remote software teams to develop, integrate, and deploy diagnostic applications.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff and support knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Interface with internal teams, stakeholders and dealer technicians as needed to support product development and issue resolution.

What you will do:

  • Develop applications to detect issues in TRU systems using sensor and performance data.
  • Support and enhance applications for diagnosing TRU data sets.
  • Adapt existing applications to evolving software architectures and platforms.
  • Validate application performance through automation, testing frameworks, and extensive data analysis.
  • Collaborate with local and remote software teams to develop, integrate, and deploy diagnostic applications.

What you will bring:
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven background in real‑world software design and implementation.
  • Minimum of 8 years of software development experience.
  • Knowledge in embedded control systems design in HVAC-R, Automotive, or Off-Highway applications.
  • Strong understanding of embedded control systems, security standards and best practices.
  • Experience with Agile environments, sprint planning, scrum processes.
  • Technical problem-solving andanalytical skillswith ability to collaborate with and communicate to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of software design principles and development best practices.
  • Experience integrating software into real‑world applications and systems.
  • Ability to visualize data and perform engineering‑oriented data analysis.
  • Knowledge of database design and SQL.
  • Languages: C#, CSS, HTML, Java Script, Python
  • Developer Tools & Frameworks: AWS, Azure, Git, Linux, MacOS, Microsoft, Native, .Net, React Native, General Computer Hardware Troubleshooting, Expertise in Azure Functions, Azure App Services, Azure API Management, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Azure Storage, Azure Logic Apps, and related cloud-native services.
