Job summary

Olsson’s Facilities Engineering and Design Team seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer in Austin, TX. You will lead complex electrical system designs, mentor engineers, and engage directly with clients to guide project direction and technical standards.

You will advance QA/QC, collaborate with PMs and discipline leads, and help grow client relationships while shaping design strategies for mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
• 10+ years designing electrical systems for complex building projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Strong experience with power distribution, lighting, and low‑voltage systems for facilities like healthcare, labs, data centers, and mission‑critical environments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Experience leading technical teams, reviewing work, and setting electrical design standards.
• Clear communication skills and ability to engage directly with clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects by overseeing electrical system design and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Set quality standards through QA/QC processes and electrical design best practices.
• Mentor engineers and designers; provide technical guidance and career development.
• Support design strategy and planning with project managers and discipline leaders.
• Engage with current and future clients as a trusted technical advisor and participate in meetings and pursuits.
• Contribute electrical expertise during early project planning and opportunity development.
• Continuously improve workflows, tools, and standards for team efficiency and innovation.
