Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Plymouth, MI is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a multi-discipline design team in a technical leadership role. The position focuses on serving as Engineer of Record and lead designer for electrical systems on new facilities, additions, and renovations, while mentoring junior engineers.

You will direct Revit/AutoCAD work, perform QA/QC, engage with clients and project teams, and support diverse markets from higher education to government.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Eight (8) or more years of experience in the design of building electrical systems.
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Michigan, or ability to obtain licensure by reciprocity.
• Experience serving as Engineer of Record and sealing construction documents.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE standards, and applicable building codes.
• Design knowledge for power distribution, fire alarm, data/communications, lighting, and emergency power systems.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Engineer of Record for electrical systems on assigned projects and seal construction documents.
• Lead design of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, data/communications, and emergency power.
• Direct and review electrical design calculations such as load, panel schedules, fault current, and voltage drop.
• Oversee development of lighting layouts and calculations for interior and exterior applications.
• Review detailed Revit designs including single-line diagrams and panel schedules.
• Lead existing-building surveys and documentation of electrical systems and site conditions.
• Direct equipment selections and specifications for switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, and more.
