Job summary

Acron Aviation in Saint Petersburg, FL / Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer – Recorders to lead the design, test and integration of circuit card assemblies and high‑speed analog/digital power electronics for cockpit recorders.

The role requires coordinating with software, mechanical, FPGA firmware, test, certification, and project teams, plus mentoring junior engineers in a highly regulated avionics environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience; graduate degree with 8+ years preferred.
• Experience with RTCA DO-160 design guidance for airborne hardware is desired.
• Knowledge of aviation industry design standards and multi-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and sustain CCAs from concept through verification and obsolescence management.
• Create schematics and review CAD layouts (Altium, Xpedition, OrCAD).
• Lead analog, digital, power and high-speed circuit design work.
• Develop documentation, BOMs, and device test plans for full data packages.
• Oversee PCB layout activities from simple to complex boards.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with software, FPGA, test, and certification teams.
