Job summary

Jedson Engineering seeks a senior Electrical Engineer to lead power distribution design and studies for diverse EPC projects, with some travel to sites.

You will apply PSCAD and ETAP, ensure code compliance, and work closely with the Power Generation team to deliver value to clients.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience.
  • PE license or EIT certificate with ability to obtain PE license is preferred but not required.
  • Some travel to project and construction sites will be required.
  • Experience leading PSCAD and ETAP studies for utility-scale gas generation, renewable generation, BESS, and industrial power projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, ANSI, NEMA and NFPA codes and standards.
  • Able to handle onsite plant projects with minimal supervision.

  • Partner with our Power Generation team on EPC contracts and project delivery.
  • Review PSCAD and ETAP studies to support project development and commissioning.
  • Apply power system analysis tools across generation facilities and substations.
  • Ensure compliance with IEEE, IEC and utility requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll partner closely with our Power Generation team. Lead the design, analysis, and specification of power distribution systems. Projects range from facility modifications to complex EPC contracts. Some travel to project and construction sites will be required.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and review PSCAD and ETAP studies supporting utility-scale gas generation, renewable generation, battery energy storage (BESS), and industrial power projects.
  • Experience developing technical recommendations from transient overvoltage, insulation coordination, system stability, and protection studies during project development, detailed engineering, and commissioning phases.
  • Proficiency with PSCAD for electromagnetic transient studies, transient overvoltage analysis, switching surge evaluation, and insulation coordination of medium and high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with ETAP Grid and Cable Systems modules for load flow, short-circuit, protective relay coordination, transient stability, arc flash, and cable ampacity studies.
  • Experience applying power system analysis tools to utility-scale power generation facilities, generator interconnections, substations, and industrial power distribution systems.
  • Strong understanding of IEEE, IEC, and utility requirements related to power system performance, protection, and insulation coordination.

  • Experience with design/installation of distribution equipment, with experience in consulting engineering and construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA)
  • Able to handle onsite plant projects with minimal supervision
  • Well organized with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and operate within budgets and work directly with client engineers and maintenance teams.
