Job summary

Panelmatic, Inc. in Houston, TX seeks a detail-oriented Lead Electrical Engineer to create and review models and BOMs for power distribution equipment including metal-clad switchgear and panelboards.

The role requires 10+ years in MV switchgear design, a BS in Electrical Engineering, and strong experience with AutoCAD/SolidWorks. On-site duties include mentoring, cross-functional collaboration, and production support.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in medium voltage switchgear design or equivalent.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering degree required.
  • Knowledge of control circuits, transfer schemes, differential schemes, PT/CPT load calculations.
  • Experience in front elevation, three-line and one-line creation.
  • Experience turning quote and customer specifications into complete drawing and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design and internal wiring of switchgear.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, NEC and UL standards.
  • Mentoring and guiding new engineers; leadership experience preferred.
  • AutoCAD and SolidWorks proficiency required

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of electrical packages for switchgear projects (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs).
  • Conduct technical reviews of projects and release BOMs for purchasing and fabrication.
  • Receive new product designs and implement changes into production engineering systems.
  • Provide support for modeling and DFM with product development.
  • Maintain standard designs and configurations; support manufacturing questions.
  • Provide technical support to purchasing and strategic sourcing.
  • Mentor other engineers and interact with mechanical engineering and project teams.
  • Communicate job status and issues with supervisor; supervise team as needed.

Job Summary:

Panelmatic is seeking a detail-oriented experienced Lead Electrical Engineer. The Lead Electrical Engineer will create/review models and BOM’s for power distribution equipment including Metal-Clad Switchgear, Metal-Eclosed Switchgear and Panelboards.

Job Duties:
  • Lead the design and development of comprehensive electrical packages for switchgear projects (e.g., one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs).
  • Conduct a technical review of project
  • Release bill of material for purchasing and fabrication
  • Receive new product designs, product modifications and implement new designs/changes into production engineering systems
  • Provide support to product development for modeling and DFM (design for manufacturing)
  • Support the creation and maintenance of standard designs and configurations
  • Provide support to manufacturing regarding product and project questions and issues
  • Provide technical support purchasing and strategic sourcing as required
  • Mentor others on the engineering team
  • Interact with mechanical engineering, project management and customers as required
  • Communicate job status, including possible issues, with supervisor
  • Support the creation and maintenance of engineering systems and processes
  • Supervise the team as needed
  • 10+ years experience in medium voltage switchgear design or equivalent
  • BS in Electrical Engineering degree required
  • Knowledge of control circuits, transfer schemes, differential schemes, PT/CPT load calculations
  • Experience in front elevation, three-line and one-line creation
  • Experience turning quote and customer specifications and drawings into a complete drawing and documentation package ready for customer and construction
  • A strong understanding of the mechanical design of switchgear
  • A strong understanding of internal wiring of switchgear
  • Familiarity with ANSI, NEC and UL standards
  • Passion for mentoring and guiding new engineers
  • Preferably experience in leading teams
  • AutoCAD and SolidWorks required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required
  • Ability to work in a multi project multitask environment with changing priorities required
  • Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills required
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal required
  • US work authorization without sponsorship required
  • Growth mindset with the ability to accept challenges required
  • Ability to physically push, pull, and lift 50lbs or more required
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for four plus hours at a time required
