Job description

Lead Electrical Commissioning Specialist

Omaha, United States | Posted on 06/09/2026

TTSEnergy Services is seeking a Lead Electrical Commissioning Specialist to represent the EPC on a utility‑scale Simple Cycle Power Plant new build. This is not a crew lead role — this individual serves as the EPC's eyes and ears during the commissioning phase, ensuring testing teams execute in strict accordance with the project's commissioning plan. The ideal candidate brings deep power plant startup experience, sharp technical judgment, and the credibility to hold execution teams accountable in a high‑stakes environment.

Responsibilities
  • Represent the EPC during electrical commissioning, verifying that testing teams execute activities in accordance with approved commissioning procedures and plans.
  • Review and validate pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and startup test results for completeness and technical accuracy.
  • Conduct system walkdowns and turnover inspections to confirm construction completion and system readiness prior to energization.
  • Identify, document, and drive resolution of deficiencies, punch list items, and procedural deviations.
  • Coordinate with construction, operations, OEM vendors, and commissioning management to ensure alignment and sequencing.
  • Oversee energization activities, confirming proper authorization, readiness verification, and procedural compliance at each stage.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues as they arise and provide technical direction for resolution.
  • Ensure all commissioning documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule.
  • Serve as the daily point of contact for commissioning leadership, providing progress updates and flagging issues that require escalation.
  • Enforce site safety requirements and commissioning procedures across all electrical activities.
Direct Commissioning Experience

Direct commissioning experience on one or more of the following is required: Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle, Natural Gas Fired, or Combustion Turbine facilities. Candidates without utility‑scale power generation commissioning experience will not be considered.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of electrical commissioning experience, with at least 3 years in utility‑scale power generation.
  • Prior experience in an EPC oversight, commissioning engineer, or startup engineer role — someone who has been responsible for ensuring execution quality, not just performing it.
  • Demonstrated experience on greenfield or large‑scale power generation projects through energization and startup.
  • Ability to read and interpret one‑lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection drawings.
  • Strong technical judgment with the ability to identify when execution deviates from intent and act on it.
Electrical Systems Experience

Commissioning and testing experience across: medium‑ and high‑voltage switchgear, power transformers, GSUs, generator protection systems, protective relays, MCCs, VFDs, UPS and battery systems, synchronization systems, and SCADA/plant control interfaces.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent field experience.
  • NETA certification.
  • OSHA 30.
  • Experience with GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Solar turbines.
