About the Opportunity

Cognify Global is currently working with an established engineering, construction and systems integration business that is looking to strengthen and expand its Electrical & Instrumentation function.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation professional with an active Texas Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and a strong Oil & Gas background to join their Houston-based team.

The level of appointment is flexible and will be determined by the experience and capabilities of the successful candidate. The opportunity could suit someone at Senior E&I Engineer, E&I Manager or Director level.

The successful candidate will play a key role within the E&I function, with the opportunity to become a Subject Matter Expert and technical authority, or take on a broader leadership and management position depending on their experience and career ambitions.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing technical leadership across Electrical & Instrumentation projects
• Acting as a Subject Matter Expert and technical authority where appropriate
• Supporting the development and growth of the E&I team
• Developing and reviewing electrical and instrumentation designs and engineering deliverables
• Providing technical input throughout the full project lifecycle
• Reviewing engineering specifications, calculations, drawings and documentation
• Supporting electrical and instrumentation system design, integration and commissioning
• Ensuring projects meet relevant industry standards, codes and client specifications
• Working closely with process, controls, mechanical and project engineering teams
• Supporting equipment selection, vendor reviews and technical evaluations
• Providing technical direction and mentoring to engineers
• Working directly with clients, vendors and project partners
• Supporting project estimating, proposals and business development activities
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex electrical and instrumentation issues

For candidates with leadership and management experience, the role may also include:

• Building and leading the Electrical & Instrumentation team
• Developing the structure and capabilities required to support future growth
• Managing multiple projects and engineering resources
• Establishing engineering standards, processes and best practices
• Developing client relationships and supporting business development
• Providing technical and commercial input into proposals and project opportunities
• Supporting recruitment, development and performance management of engineering personnel
• Helping shape the strategic direction of the E&I function
• Supporting the growth of the E&I business across the company's project portfolio

Requirements

• Active Texas Professional Engineer (P.E.) license – essential
• Extensive experience delivering E&I projects within the Oil & Gas industry
• Strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems, engineering practices and industry standards
• Proven experience across the full project lifecycle from engineering through to commissioning
• Strong technical documentation and engineering skills
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Candidates can come from either a strong Subject Matter Expert / technical authority background or a leadership and management background
• Willingness to obtain additional state P.E. licenses where required to support projects and areas of responsibility

The company will support the successful candidate in obtaining additional P.E. licenses in other states where required.

The Opportunity

This is more than a traditional E&I engineering position.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a key role within an established engineering and construction business, either as a technical Subject Matter Expert or as a leader responsible for developing and managing the E&I function.

The position can be tailored around the successful candidate's experience and ambitions, with opportunities ranging from Senior E&I Engineer through to E&I Manager or Director level.

For the right individual, there is significant scope to influence technical standards, project delivery, team development, client relationships and the future growth of the E&I function.

Compensation

$170,000 – $250,000+ base salary, depending on experience and level.

Highly experienced candidates operating at Director level may be considered above the advertised range where appropriate.
