Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA seeks a Neurodiagnostic Technologist, Registered, to lead workflow in the Neurodiagnostic Center. The role covers training staff, troubleshooting equipment, QA projects, and accurate reporting of department statistics. Schedule is Monday–Friday, with on-call duties and day shift.

Requires two years of college with EEG registration, 3-5 years in a neurodiagnostic lab, and strong communication skills. Signing bonus may be available; union SHARE represented.

Qualifications

  • Two years of college with specialization in human anatomy and physiology, EEG registration included.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Neurodiagnostic Lab setting (EEG, CLTM, EMU, EP).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to instruct medical students, residents, and students in electroneurodiagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Distributes and monitors workflow for the NDC technologists; provides training and technical assistance.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and reports issues to IS, Biomedical Engineering and EEG vendors.
  • Assists manager with QA projects and updates to policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of departmental statistics.
  • Develops training plans and competencies.
  • Performs the duties of a Neurodiagnostic Technologist, Registered.

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Hiring Range: $30.91 - $55.59

Schedule Details: Monday through Friday, On Call - Required

Scheduled Hours: 8-4:30

Shift: 1 - Day Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America)

Major Responsibilities
  • Distributes and monitors the flow of work for the NDC technologists. Provides training and technical assistance to the techs. Assists manager in assuring assigned employees are provided with appropriate resources, materials, and methods. Provides recommendations to manager for the most efficient utilization of assigned personnel. Relays work instruction from the manager. Participates in resident training program.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and reports equipment problems to IS, Biomedical Engineering and/or EEG vendors.
  • Assists manager and supervisor with Quality Assurance projects, and update of policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of departmental statistics to manager.
  • Develop training plans and competencies.
  • Performs the duties of a Neurodiagnostic Technologist, Registered.
Standard Lead Level Responsibilities
  • Distributes and monitors the flow of work for an assigned group of employees. Provides training and technical assistance to employees within the assigned work area. Assists supervisor in assuring that assigned employees are provided with appropriate resources, materials, and methods. Provides recommendations to manager or supervisor for the most efficient utilization of assigned personnel. Relays work instruction from the supervisor.

Position Qualifications
License/Certification/Education

Required:

  • Two years of college with specialization in human anatomy and physiology, training including national registration in EEG (REEGT or CBRET or CLTM).
Preferred
  • Additional neurodiagnostic credentials in EP (REPT) is desirable.
  • Board registry in 2 testing areas.
Experience/Skill

Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Neurodiagnostic Lab setting (EEG, or CLTM, or EMU, or EP).
  • Must demonstrate proven ability to instruct medical students, residents, and students in electroneurodiagnostic procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary, to interact with staff, physicians and patients.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies, including age-specific competencies and their measurements, will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

Work is considered light. Position requires work indoors in a patient care laboratory environment.
