Job summary

Eastern Michigan University is seeking a Teacher II in the Children’s Institute to develop, plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate classroom activities for a specific age group of children. Supervise practicum students and work with faculty from Teacher Education in the Academic component of the institute.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is required.
• Michigan Elementary Teaching Certification with Early Childhood Endorsement (ZA/ZS) is required.
• Three years of early childhood teaching experience in the appropriate age group is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with very young children, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate classroom programs for a specific age group of children.
• Provide input to Associate Director regarding hiring of classroom student employees.
• Supervise practicum students and model classroom teaching, including observations and evaluations.
• Consult with faculty from academic departments on practicum and observation experiences for EMU students.
• Maintain records and report progress of individual children as per institute protocol.
