Job summary

ChildRoots NW in Portland, OR is seeking Lead Teachers (1.0 FTE, 5 days/40 hours) for classrooms serving ages zero to five. Roles include Infant, Toddler, and Preschool Lead Teachers, with collaborative, play-based teaching in a supportive, co-teaching environment.

Roles require Oregon Registry Step 7+ and background clearance, plus 4+ years in an ECE setting. Benefits include health, dental, life insurance, 401(k), PTO and paid holidays.

Qualifications

• Be a Step 7 or higher in the Oregon Registry Online (ORO) system.
• Be enrolled in Oregon’s Central Background Registry or start the process.
• Have at least 4 years of experience in an ECE classroom setting.
• Meet OCCR criteria including coursework in early childhood education and required safety trainings.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care and educational support for a consistent group of children.
• Foster a safe, engaging, and child-centered learning environment.
• Design and implement developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans.
• Build strong relationships with families and maintain clear communication.
• Lead and direct classroom staff to ensure smooth operations.
