Job summary

Inspire-Cp in the United States is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist in day habilitation programs, working in community and home environments to support individuals with developmental disabilities.

You will document plans, coordinate with the Habilitation Supervisor and Medicaid Service Coordinator, and ensure adherence to policies and safety standards while helping to coordinate community activities and supervise other DSPs.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Human Services or equivalent experience.
• 1 year experience with individuals with developmental disabilities; or 2 years with college credit; or 3 years with HS diploma.
• Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and professionals.
• Strong documentation and paperwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals in day habilitation program.

Description

Basic Function:

Assist in supervising and support for direct support professionals who are working in the day habilitation without walls program and are out in the community.

Essential Functions:

• Provision of direct support to individuals in day habilitation program
• Accurately and timely submits paperwork to the Habilitation Supervisor
• Keeps current with each individual’s Day Habilitation Plan and documentation forms to assure program activity relates to the consumer’s plan
• Cooperates with the Habilitation Supervisor and the consumer’s Medicaid Service Coordinator to assure Habilitation Plans are updated for ISP reviews and meetings
• Be professional in appearance, attire, and attitude while in the consumer’s home and in the community
• Complies with agency policy
• Provides additional supports for other DSPs in implementation of habilitation plans
• Assists in ensuring staff is utilizing all required documentation.
• Maintains compliance with institutional regulations, state and federal regulations.
• Takes the lead role while in the community providing Day Habilitation for individuals, which may include assisting in coordination of community activities and volunteer opportunities in conjunction with Habilitation Supervisor.

Additional Functions:

• Adheres to safety policies and procedures. Insures that clients/students/program participants receive services in a safe environment. Encourages co-workers to follow safety policies and procedures. Reports any potential unsafe conditions to supervisor and/or Safety Committee.
• Follows current policies and procedures regarding compliance with privacy, security and corporate compliance policies. Be thoroughly familiar with department and program specific policies and procedures.
• Maintains positive and open communication with supervisors.
• Attends meetings as requested by the Supervisor.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Associates Degree in Human Services Area and 1year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities; or some college credit and 2 years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities: or High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and/or stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Normal or corrective vision is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
