Navarro ISD seeks a Training Specialist to develop and provide instruction to personnel operating district vehicles, including Class B CDL training, and to maintain transportation hardware and software.

The role covers Behind the Wheel and classroom training, keeping training records in line with State and Federal regulations, and supporting the transportation director in safety oversight and performance coaching of drivers and monitors.

Qualificações

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Texas CDL Class B with S and P endorsements.
• Valid School Bus Certification Card.
• Valid DOT Physical Certification.
• Acceptable driving record as determined by DPS/TxDOT/TEA.
• Completion of driver trainer program through an approved provider.

Responsabilidades

• Perform Behind the Wheel Training and classroom training with new and existing employees.
• Document and maintain all training records and schedules as required by State and Federal regulations and Navarro ISD policies.
• Train drivers regarding setting up and maintaining paperwork.
• Provide student management training to drivers.
• Assist the transportation director with monitoring the performance of bus drivers and monitors to ensure safety procedures are consistently followed.
• Provide documentation to the transportation director regarding recommended corrective actions needed by trainees or staff.

Primary Purpose:

Develop and provide instruction to new and existing personnel in the operation of district vehicles, including class B commercial driver’s license training. Maintain transportation specific technology hardware and software.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma or GED Certificate, Preferred
• Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) With “S” and “P” endorsements
• Valid School Bus Certification Card
• Valid Department of Transportation DOT Physical Certification
• Acceptable driving record as determined by the Department of Public Safety, Department of Transportation, and Texas Education Agency
• Completion of driver trainer program through an approved provider

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to communicate professionally with parents, students, and staff in English
• Experience with Google Suite applications
• Ability to learn transportation specific software

Experience:

• Two years experience as a licensed and certified school bus driver

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Training

1. Perform Behind the Wheel Training and classroom training with new and existing employees.

4. Provide student management training to drivers.

Systems

1. Maintain onboard camera systems.
2. Install and maintain onboard camera units and/or cradles for the routing tablets/scanners.
3. Assist the operations specialist routing tablets and scanners.

Driving / Monitoring

1. Cover bus routes as needed, either as a driver or monitor, to ensure the safe and efficient transport of passengers.
2. Meet all requirements and expectations of a Navarro ISD bus driver or monitor.

Other

1. Review student disciplinary reports from drivers, initiating first parent contact as needed.
2. Attend professional development identified by the transportation director.
3. Other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used

Two-way radios, fire extinguisher, wheelchair lift and securement equipment, First-Aid kit, Body Fluid Clean-up kit, computer, camera software, hand tools, and bus routing tablet.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Extensive sitting, moderate walking, standing, exposure to exhaust fumes, and fuel. Moderate squatting and bending. Climbing bus steps. Exposure to seasonal temperatures.
