Job summary

Basic Commerce & Industries Inc. seeks a full-time Systems Engineer in Dahlgren, VA to support Standard Missile programs.

You will perform system safety analyses and develop safety documentation for DoD weapon systems, coordinating with safety and engineering teams and presenting findings to leadership. The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering or technical field, 10+ years in DoD systems engineering, and 2+ years of MIL-STD 882 safety experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field required.
• 10+ years in DoD systems engineering; 2+ years in MIL-STD 882 safety tasks.
• Experience with safety reports, hazard analyses and risk assessments.
• Strong presentation and coordination skills; missile program exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain system safety plans and related documentation.
• Lead safety analyses and risk assessments for complex weapon systems.
• Prepare briefs for formal boards and leadership; provide mentoring.
• Collaborate with safety and engineering teams across programs.
• Travel CONUS up to 5–10% as required.
