GoodLife Innovations in Lenexa, KS seeks a Lead Direct Support Professional to lead care across residential programs, coaching DSPs and modeling best practices. You’ll supervise daily routines, support independence, manage challenging behaviors, and train new staff while ensuring safety and quality of life for adults with IDD.

GoodLife Innovations is looking for experienced, dependable, and adaptable Lead Direct Support Professionals to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role is ideal for experienced Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) or caregivers who are passionate about helping others, confident supporting individuals with challenging behaviors, and ready to serve as a leader and mentor to other team members.

As a Lead DSP, you’ll provide direct care while coaching, training, and supporting DSPs across multiple residential programs. You’ll help create positive home environments, model best practices, and step in wherever you’re needed, including homes with more complex support needs. If you’re a self-starter who stays calm under pressure and thrives in a role where every day can look different, this could be the opportunity for you!

Schedules Include:

• Front-Half (Sun-Wed)
• Back-Half (Wed-Sat)

What You’ll Do:

• Lead by Example: Provide high-quality direct support while modeling professionalism, reliability, and person-centered care for other DSPs.
• Coach and Train Staff: Train new employees, provide hands-on guidance, and offer ongoing coaching to help DSPs build their skills and confidence.
• Support Independence: Help individuals develop daily living skills, including communication, cooking, cleaning, and other household responsibilities.
• Promote Positive Behaviors: Implement approved behavior support plans and behavioral management procedures while maintaining composure during challenging situations.
• Protect Health and Safety: Support personal care, hygiene, grooming, medication administration, first aid, and other health-related needs.
• Communicate and Collaborate: Share constructive feedback with management about home operations, staff performance, and opportunities for improvement.
• Work Across Homes: Provide coverage and support at different residential programs as needed, including transitioning between homes during a shift and working in homes with more complex support needs.

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous Direct Support Professional, caregiving, or comparable direct care experience required.
• Supervisory, leadership, or staff-training experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to give and receive feedback professionally.
• A reliable, adaptable self-starter who can adjust quickly to changing routines, assignments, and staffing needs.
• Ability to perform essential direct care and behavioral support duties, which may include running, bending, reaching, blocking, and providing physical assistance.
• Good judgment, patience, assertiveness, and the ability to make decisions in changing situations.
• Basic computer skills for completing electronic documentation.
• A driver's license, reliable transportation to travel between programs during a shift, and the ability to meet company driver qualification requirements.
• The ability to work flexible daytime hours, including shifts that may range from 12-13 hours between 7am-8pm.
