Job summary

LGTC Group in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Diet Technician to support clients in daily activities and the dietary component of our programs. You will plan menus with clients, manage kitchen stock, track meals, and observe progress with the treatment team.

Responsibilities include purchasing groceries, maintaining sanitation, applying dietary guidelines, and educating staff on food safety. Requires a Bachelor’s in Nutrition; CPR/BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Nutrition or related field.
• Knowledge of nutrition and dietary interventions in the mental health field.
• Ability to communicate with persons from all educational and cultural backgrounds.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, professionalism, enthusiasm, and a non-judgmental attitude.
• Be self-motivated and creative.
• Understand medical consequences of eating disorders and re-feeding hazards.
• Ability to implement individualized menu plans for different eating disorders.
• Communicate effectively to all staff implementing dietary programs.
• Provide documentation or obtain a state-required food handler permit or Serve Safe Certification on hire.

Responsibilities

• Purchasing all grocery items for facility, considering variety, special diets, and food safety.
• Maintaining a well-stocked kitchen, and upholding proper sanitation requirements.
• Analyzing food service providers to ensure quality products at cost effective prices.
• Monitoring client consumption of meals and providing supplementation when needed.
• Cooking and baking with clients as directed by the Dietitian.
• Participating in restaurant experiences.
• Enforcing dietary program and supporting goals set by Dietitian.
• Assisting in education for other staff onsite to ensure food safety and proper portioning; reports to Lead Dietitian.
• Support Milieu in collaboration with counselors.
