Rho in New York is seeking a Lead or Staff Design Engineer to own the feel of the product—motion, microinteractions, transitions, and the libraries that empower the team. You’ll write production-ready code and build components that elevate the entire experience.

This is not a product design role; you define what great feels like, set the craft bar, and ship the real thing. If you obsess over details and have a track record of production interfaces, we should talk.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years building production interfaces with a visible, unusually crafted body of work.

Responsibilities

• Own the feel of the product: motion, microinteractions, transitions, and the physics of how things move respond.
• Build libraries: animation primitives, interaction patterns, and components that are genuinely new.
• Ship in code: produce production-quality implementation, not just designs.
• Set the craft bar in motion: define what good feels like and codify it into systems.
• Sweat details: precision on half-pixels, 20ms targets, focus rings, and micro-tunings.
