We are looking for a highly experienced Lead Databricks Architect / Consultant to support a major, long-term data transformation programme within the life sciences sector.

This is a senior, client-facing position requiring someone who can define, communicate and deliver a modern commercial data architecture built on Databricks. You will work closely with senior business and technology stakeholders, translating complex functional requirements into scalable architectural principles and practical technical solutions.

The Role

You will be responsible for envisioning and shaping the target data architecture, ensuring it supports both current commercial requirements and future business growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Designing modern, scalable data architecture using Databricks.
• Defining architectural principles, standards and technology decisions.
• Assessing functional requirements and determining their impact on the proposed architecture.
• Evaluating the suitability and fitness of technical solutions against business objectives.
• Communicating complex architectural decisions clearly to senior stakeholders.
• Working across business, data, engineering and technology teams.
• Providing technical leadership throughout the design and delivery lifecycle.
• Supporting a potentially multi-year programme of work.

Required Experience

• Strong hands-on knowledge of Databricks and the wider modern data ecosystem.
• Experience delivering commercial data platforms or data transformation programmes.
• Previous experience within life sciences, pharmaceuticals or healthcare is highly desirable.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Confidence presenting architectural decisions, recommendations and principles to senior audiences.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, data integration, governance, security and cloud architecture.
• Ability to operate as a trusted advisor in a complex consulting environment.
• Must be based in the United States.
• Databricks certifications.
• Experience with Azure Databricks or AWS Databricks.
• Knowledge of life sciences commercial data, including sales, marketing, customer, patient or market-access datasets.
• Experience working for a global consultancy or within a large enterprise transformation programme.
