The role bridges business operations and data governance, coordinating metadata, data quality, and compliance across DG and engineering teams, with partnerships across Data Owners and SMEs.

Qualifications

• Education or experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor's degree.
• 8+ years of experience in data management, business analysis, or related field within financial services or a regulated industry.
• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), metadata management, data lineage, data quality, and compliance.
• Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS).
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and data privacy/security standards.
• Ability to communicate complex data concepts in business-friendly language.
• Preferred: DCAM, CDMP or similar certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and enhances business metadata in the enterprise data catalog (glossary, data dictionaries, and lineage).
• Defines and documents business terms, data elements, and approved data definitions with Data Owners and SMEs.
• Collaborates with the Data Governance team to ensure alignment between business definitions, technical metadata, and lineage.
• Identifies data sources and systems of record; validates ownership, stewardship, and usage context for governance objectives.
• Develops and maintains business rules for data quality and supports automated monitoring and reporting.
• Analyzes data quality metrics and escalates issues to Data Owners as needed.
• Participates in Data Domain Councils to refine standards and drive governance improvements.
• Supports rollout of new governance standards, policies, and tools across teams.
