Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to scale data science and AI for end-to-end payment optimization. You will collaborate with ML engineers and product partners to design and deploy real-time models, drive strategy, and mentor senior data scientists.

The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on work on architecture, reviews, and production-grade ML solutions. Ideal candidates have 7+ years in ML and 5+ years building real-time systems, with strong Python and SQL skills,

Qualifications

• 7+ years in ML research or engineering with 5+ years building large-scale, real-time ML systems in production.
• Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) and strong SQL experience.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities across technical and business audiences.
• Bonus: payments/fintech domain, cloud platforms, and agile development.

Responsibilities

• Define technical vision and strategy for data-driven product initiatives focused on payment optimization.
• Develop scalable capabilities for real-time ML models including classification, ranking, and optimization.
• Oversee model development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance in production environments.
• Establish best practices for ML modeling and evaluate modern tools and infra.
• Mentor a senior data science team and collaborate with product, engineering, and compliance teams.
