Job summary

Empower LLC is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to architect and optimize scalable data pipelines and real-time ingestion across distributed services. The role emphasizes performance, security, governance, and end-to-end data quality.

You will mentor engineers, guide architectural decisions, and partner with stakeholders to implement enterprise-grade data platforms. The position expects 6–8+ years of data engineering with Kafka, AWS, and modern lakehouse stacks, and offers a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
6–8+ years of data engineering experience with enterprise-scale platforms.
Proficient with Kafka, Confluent Cloud, AWS Kinesis, or Pulsar; strong in Python and SQL.

Responsibilities

Lead design and implementation of advanced data pipelines and real-time streaming solutions.
Build and maintain Kafka producers/consumers for sub-second latency across distributed services.
Configure CDC solutions (Debezium, AWS DMS, Qlik Replicate) across relational and NoSQL sources into Kafka topics.
Develop stream-processing logic using Flink, Spark Streaming, Kafka Streams, or dbt-mesh architectures.
Enforce schema evolution with Confluent Schema Registry and ensure data quality and governance.
