Job summary

Caltech is seeking a Custodial Supervisor to lead a custodial team in a research environment, ensuring high standards of cleaning, sanitizing, and floor care while maintaining safety compliance with OSHA/EPA/CDC guidelines. You will oversee daily operations, train staff, monitor performance, and assist with scheduling and reporting.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating with facilities, managing timekeeping (Kronos) and Work Order (AiM), and handling equipment checks.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of custodial customers.
• 3–5 years of leadership in custodial roles within fast-paced educational or commercial environments.
• Knowledge of advanced cleaning techniques and ability to operate floor care equipment.
• Ability to lead a large, diverse team of employees.
• Must possess a valid California Driver's license and maintain it throughout employment.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain before employment begins.
• Ability to work scheduled hours: 5:00am–1:30pm, Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities

• Leads and supervises custodians, trains new personnel, and monitors work in progress.
• Provides work schedule recommendations, creates reports, and oversees day-to-day operations.
• Acts as supervisor in Custodial Supervisor's absence and oversees equipment maintenance.
• Oversees proper cleaning of campus facilities, fountains, and related systems.
• Assists with purchasing, timekeeping, and supply inventory.
• Responds to campus emergencies after hours and prepares reports.
