Job summary

Lexington Public Schools in Lexington, MA, seeks a Head Custodian (Class 24) for a 12‑month term per SEIU Local 888. Shift is Mon–Fri, 6:00am–2:30pm, 40 hours weekly with benefits. Hourly rate ranges from $28.95 to $34.02, plus snow stipend and clothing allowance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and the ability to demonstrate knowledge listed in this job description.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Experience in building custodial services (5–7 years minimum).
• Demonstrated supervisory or management ability.
• Ability to monitor and maintain quality control standards.
• Ability to use the town’s computer-based maintenance system, e-mail system and Building Management System.
• Demonstrated problem solving and communication skills.
• Employment is contingent upon successful CORI/SORI checks and a pre-placement medical exam with drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Keep buildings and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Shovel, plow, and treat walks as needed; perform snow removal operations and run related equipment.
• Coordinate snow removal scheduling with DPF Management and ensure safety for school opening.
• Check daily that all exit doors are opened or secured as required.
• Remove all waste, recycling and debris; mop, vacuum and dust daily.
• Clean corridors, stairs, and restrooms; disinfect fixtures and refill supplies daily.
• Replace bulbs and ceiling tiles; maintain floors in good condition.
• Complete reports of corrective actions after inspections and maintain inventories.
