Job summary

Garten Services is hiring a Lead Custodian in Salem, Oregon. This full-time role leads a custodial crew, performs cleaning duties, and ensures safety and quality per contract requirements. Must be willing to learn and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to provide own transportation with valid license and insurance preferred.
• Physical ability to operate custodial equipment and perform lifting, bending, and repetitive motions.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team and take direction.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct custodial team members at assigned sites.
• Perform custodial duties such as cleaning restrooms, vacuuming, trash removal, and maintenance tasks.
• Ensure building security and monitor supply levels; place supply requests as needed.
• Verify quality against task lists and maintain Garten standards.

Performs all tasks in a safe manner and meets Garten quality standards. Must be open to learning. May work independently or in cooperation with a team. Come see us at 500 Hawthorne Ave SE Salem, OR 97301Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:• Being the back up, and occasionally, the primary driver for the team(s) assigned to.• Leads and directs workers in required custodial duties at assigned sites.• Ensures building security at specified sites.• Performs custodial duties such as vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, and other miscellaneous services safely and in compliance with all Garten policies and procedures.• Monitoring supply needs and stock levels. Places supply requests as needed to maintain adequate inventory. Assists with distribution of supplies.• Checks quality against task lists and/or other control documents to ensure all items are completed for the site each time.Supervisory Responsibilities:• This position is not supervisory in nature except to the extent that it provides daily work direction to others on the crew.Specific Job Skills Required:• Ability to provide own transportation to and from work, with valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of current vehicle insurance preferred.• Physical ability to operate custodial equipment, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, climb stairs and make repetitive motions of the arms/hands.• Physical ability to push/pull up to 20 pounds, to lift up to 200 pounds with assistance, and to carry up to 40 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday.• Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment and/or take independent action, and provide customer service.• Must be capable and willing to work an 8-hour day and up to 40 hours/week as required.• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English preferred.• Ability to actively participate in team development and team-oriented processes.Job Conditions:• This position requires the incumbent to work in an environment where there may be exposure to fumes, noise, poor lighting, poor ventilation, dirt, dust, chemicals, odors, building temperature fluctuations, and biohazards. Other working conditions may include: working alone; shift work; disagreeable contacts (i.e. aggressive/agitated individuals); and frequent interruptions.
