Job summary

Harmons Grocery is seeking a diligent Maintenance/JANITORIAL associate to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety across the store. You will plan cleaning tasks, train new maintenance staff, and assist customers and teammates with maintenance needs while delivering friendly service.

The role requires open availability, including weekends and holidays, adherence to policies, proper handling of cleaning chemicals, and regular safety walks to identify hazards.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Excellent organization and planning skills and solid communication abilities to interact with customers and associates.
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures and to work with integrity and teamwork.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings, overnight, and holidays.

$15.00 - $18.50 PER HOUR

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to ensure Harmons’ standards for cleanliness, sanitation, and safety are being met throughout the store. This person will be responsible for overseeing deep cleaning in departments and ensuring deep cleaning does not interfere with customer service. Also, this person will create cleaning plans and train new maintenance associates. This person will also assist customers and associates with maintenance issues and provide exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position requires open availability, weekends, and holidays.
• Ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas throughout the store
• Performs a safety walk of the store to identify and correct potential hazards
• Assists customers and fellow associates with maintenance issues throughout the store
• Oversees deep cleaning in departments, ensuring cleaning does not interfere with customer service
• Creates and implements effective and timely cleaning plans for entire store
• Empties trash and recycling bins in departments and employee areas
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms
• Cleans glass throughout the store
• Sweeps and mops floors throughout the store
• Cleans employee break room including the refrigerator
• Cleans and organizes the store’s maintenance closets and mechanical rooms
• Orders maintenance chemicals and supplies
• Mentor and train maintenance associates
• Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
• Teaches and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team
• Provides honest, direct, and constant feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement
• Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
• Assists as needed to ensure the success of the store as a whole

MARGINIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to chemicals and hot, cold, slippery, and wet conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand, and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds from location to location.
