Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach is seeking a Lead CS/SPD Technician to oversee the SPD team during evenings, ensuring instrument processing meets standards and supports operational efficiency.

You will supervise, assign tasks, mentor staff, perform case-pull, inspect instruments, and troubleshoot equipment while maintaining strict safety and quality. A sign-on bonus up to $5,000 is available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Sterile Processing certification required (CRCST/CSPDT or CFER/CER).
• Two years of Sterile Processing, Central Service or Operating Room Technician experience.
• Leadership certificate within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead SPD daily activities in supervisor's absence, assigning resources and supporting performance reviews.
• Perform case pull, inspect, wrap and label instruments according to lists.
• Ensure cleaning, decontamination, assembly and high-level disinfection per standards.
• Build and dispatch case carts using electronic systems and preference cards.
• Provide technical expertise to internal and external customers.
• Troubleshoot washers, endo processors, cart washers, sterilizers, and tracking systems.
• Monitor supplies and equipment and address related issues.
• Contribute to performance reviews and progressive disciplinary actions.
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization and assembly counts.

In the absence of a supervisor, the LeadSterile Processing (CS/SPD)Technician willleadthe daily activities of the assigned SPD team or department, including assigning resources, correctiveactionandassistancewith performance reviews. A caregiver in this positionworksevenings from 3:00PM - 11:30PM, includingrotating on-call weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform case pull functions efficiently and accurately.
• Scan,sortand inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness
• Assemble,wrapand label instruments according to provided lists.
• Ensure proper cleaning, decontamination,assemblyand high-level disinfection of reusable instrumentationin accordance withAAMI standards.
• Build case carts using electronic preference cards anddispatchthem to appropriate locations.
• Provide technicalexpertisefor all customers, internal and external.
• Troubleshoot all processing equipment problems, including washers, sonics, endo processors, cart washers,sterilizersand the instrument tracking system.
• Seek ways toeliminateerrors, reduce turnaround time,maintainworkflowand improve customer service.
• Follow department standards when processing equipment,instrumentationand chemicals.
• Perform QA testing on instrumentation and equipment.
• Monitor andcontrolsupplies and equipmentandresolve any related issues.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the proper handling ofequipment,instrumentationand chemicals.
• Provide input on performance reviews and progressive disciplinary actions for assigned caregivers.
• Use the department's instrument and productivity tracking program tomaintainaccuraterecordsregardingsterilization and set assembly count-sheets.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• HighSchoolDiploma or GED
• Sterile Processing certification (e.g.CRCST/CSPDT or CFER/CER)
• Two years of experience as a Sterile Processing, Central Service or Operating RoomTechnician
• Certificate of Healthcare Leadership within six months of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Five years of experience as aSterileProcessing,CentralServiceand/orSurgicalTechnologist

Physical Requirements:

• Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, stretching and lifting. Some instrument trays may weigh in excess of 30 lbs.
• Possible exposure to bio hazardous materials, possible exposure to carcinogenic and hazardous chemicals and gases.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
