Job summary

Swoon is hiring a Lead Crane Technician to oversee the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service of large-scale gantry cranes and intermodal material-handling equipment at customer sites across North America.

This isn't a shop position—it's a frontline role on the massive machines that keep ports, rail yards, and the global supply chain moving, requiring on-site leadership and extensive travel.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of heavy equipment field service experience.
• Experience with gantry cranes, intermodal equipment, or large material handling systems.
• Strong ability to read and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Hands-on experience leading equipment erection and assembly projects from start to finish.
• Willing to travel 80–90% (approximately 325 days per year).

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service of large cranes at customer sites.
• Lead complex installations and coordinate field teams on-site.
• Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic issues in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on customer jobs with minimal on-site training.
• Collaborate with customers across North America to ensure project success.
