Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Company in Indiana is seeking an experienced production supervisor to manage the corrugating department, including die cutters, ensuring safety, quality, on-time delivery and cost control. You will back up the shift supervisor, lead a team, enforce GMPs, and drive continuous improvement on the manufacturing floor.

This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work 12-hour shifts.

• Prior work experience in a corrugated manufacturing plant.
• Must have experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of safety, health, and requirements and applicable programs.
• Ability to organize information and manage time.

Responsibilities

• Direct, teach, coach and train in corrugating departments including die cutter employees.
• Direct and execute daily production schedules.
• Maintain department shop floor metrics and continuous improvement methods.
• Ensure conformance of WIP and FG products to specifications with cost control.
• Back up the shift supervisor and promote safety programs.
• Monitor attendance and vacations; fill in for absences as needed.
• Order raw materials for the department within budget guidelines.
• Maintain GMPs and participate in SQF audits.

The Opportunity

To manage and coordinate the efforts of hourly corrugating department including die cutters employees. Ensure that product specifications are met with a high standard of quality. Ensure compliance with all standards, policies, regulations, for the safe, environmentally sound production of a quality product.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock

• Safely execute all job duties as assigned and promote safety & safety programs throughout the facility.
• Maintain housekeeping excellence in accordance with the Master Clean Program.
• This position backs up the shift supervisor.
• Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the corrugating department including die cutters with constant emphasis on safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost.
• Assure conformance of WIP and FG products to company, industry, and customer specifications at minimum cost and optimum efficiency.
• Direct, teach, coach and train in corrugating departments including die cutter employees.
• Responsible for maintaining department shop floor metrics, visual controls, and continuous improvement methods to the manufacturing floor.
• Direct and execute daily production schedules.
• Ensure daily reporting and accuracy of production results.
• Maintain and enforce all GMPs.
• Participating in an ensuring department is SQF audit regulation.
• Monitor and administer attendance and vacation.
• Fill in for vacations and absences as needed.
• Order raw materials and supplies for the department while maintaining budgetary guidelines.
• Any other tasks assigned by the shift supervisor.

What you need to succeed

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

• In-depth knowledge of company and customer quality and quantity expectations.
