Job summary

Pursuit is seeking a Cook II for the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge as part of our Spring/Summer 2027 seasonal hire. You will prepare menu items for dining room service, follow standardized recipes, and work efficiently with the team to ensure quality and presentation.

Requirements include Alaska Food Workers card or ability to obtain, ServeSafe is a plus, and strong knowledge of food handling. CPR/First Aid desirable; Culinary school graduate or equivalent experience preferred.

• ServeSafe Manage certification is advantageous.
• Knowledge of proper food handling and preparation standards.
• Current CPR/First Aid desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Culinary school graduate or equivalent cook experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare menu items for dining room service following standardized recipes.
• Maintain safety and quality during food production.
• Assist with provisioning and inventory of kitchen supplies and deliveries.
• Take direction from Chef and collaborate with team to meet dietary needs.

This position is part of our Spring/Summer 2027 seasonal hiring, with full-time opportunities starting in February or May 2027.

The starting wage for this position is $22.50/hour.

Role & Responsibilities

Safety, anticipating guest needs, honoring our surroundings and bringing your best every day are the core values we live by in order to provide dynamic guest service at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. As Cook II, you will prepare menu items for dining room service while working efficiently with standardized recipes and presentations.

• Take directions from Chef
• Provide excellent service to both guests and team members
• Ensure all guests’ special needs are met, including dietary restrictions
• Estimate food consumption and purchases or requisitions food and kitchen supplies
• Ensure efficiency and timely food production and safety
• Participate in the provisioning of the island to include loading and unloading of supply vessels, conducting inventories and properly and safely storing items

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Must have, or be able to obtain, Alaska Food Workers card
• ServeSafe Manage certification is advantageous
• Knowledge of proper food handling and preparations standards
• Current CPR, First Aid desirable
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Culinary School graduate or previous experience working as a cook in food service operations, or equivalent combination of experience and training
