Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or Culinary School training is required.
• Food Protection Certificate issued by NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
• At least two years of relevant cook experience in a restaurant or similar setting.
• Good understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Provides Food Services supervision to cooks toward building proficiency in institutional cooking.
• Supervise and maintain clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
• Monitors compliance with nutrition, sanitary regulations, and safety standards in work areas.
• Ensures that all food service operations comply with health and safety codes while adhering to the agency menu plan.
• Ensures meals are prepared and served according to the Department Of Health and Department of Homeless Services regulatory guidelines.
• Evaluate inventory and order kitchen materials within the guidelines of established purchasing protocols.
