Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation, a leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, seeks a Lead Controls Engineer for building automation systems. You will design, program, and tailor control solutions for each customer, with emphasis on problem solving, documentation, and interface development.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage timelines, and ensure compliance with design standards while interfacing with sales and project teams to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years building automation/HVAC experience or higher.
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA; no visa sponsorship.
  • Experience with building automation concepts and programming.

Responsibilities

About This Role

As a Lead Controls Engineer, you will be crucial to ALC’s business through the designing of advanced building automation systems created specifically for each individual customer. We are looking for someone who works well in a team and has excellent problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills. You will work on solving complex problems and lead smaller projects with less experienced engineers to help develop their skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and program increasingly advanced building automation systems, site-specific configuration of control system, and control algorithms.
  • Adhere to project requirements and company and customer standards of design, programming, and implementation.
  • Create a clear design document for project teams with technical information.
  • Document and communicate the building automation system design and revisions.
  • Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems.
  • Test programming and interfaces prior to implantation.
  • Provide technical support to sales representatives to ensure customers’ needs are met.
  • Identify and communicate project opportunities and risks.
  • Support of functional testing for complex building systems.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of building automation/ HVAC experience OR Associate Degree with 6+ years of building automation/ HVAC experience OR High School Diploma or GED with 8+ years of building automation/ HVAC experience.
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the USA. No visa sponsoring available.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in an Engineering or Construction discipline.
  • Experience in HVAC controls, Building Automation, or related industry.
  • Rockwell PLC experience (Controls/ Compact Logix)
  • Ignition SCADA experience
  • Proficient with primary functions of building automation system software and associated engineering tools, Automated Logic suites preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of complex Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add‑ons, and services.
  • Proficient with third-party communication protocols used in building automation, such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.
  • Understanding with Enterprise IP networks and Microsoft Visio, or similar software.
  • Proficient with written sequences of operations, diagrammatic depictions of systems.
  • Able to translate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.
Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

Thisposition may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
