Job summary

Transamerica in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Regulatory Compliance professional to support oversight and surveillance across insurance and securities channels. You will review policies, develop surveillance scenarios, and analyze data to identify regulatory risks and ensure adherence to company standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate existing policies, procedures, surveillance methodologies, monitoring controls, and risk management practices to identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Recommend and support the implement of process improvements, surveillance enhancements, and controls designed to mitigate agent oversight, conduct and sales practice risk.
  • Conduct risk-based surveillance and monitoring activities to identify potential regulatory, compliance, supervisory, and business conduct concerns. Analyze agent, customer, policy/account and transaction data to detect patterns, trends and emerging risks related to sales and servicing practices to support compliance with applicable company standards regulatory requirements, and market conduct expectations.
  • Lead and support the design, development, and testing, of new or enhanced surveillance scenarios, risk indicators, reporting, analytics, procedures, and enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Develop, analyze, produce, and present management reporting that summarizes surveillance activity, trends, findings, root causes, emerging risks, corrective actions recommendations for strengthening controls and improving compliance oversight.
  • Support regulatory examinations, audits, inquiries, internal reviews, and information requests by gathering documentation, preparing analyses, coordinating responses, and assisting with remediation efforts to address identified findings and strengthen control environments.
  • Proactively contributes to departmental initiatives, quality assurance reviews, process optimization efforts, and continuous improvement activities designed to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and overall maturity of the compliance surveillance program.

Job Description Summary

As a key member of the Compliance department, this role helps mitigate legal, regulatory, operational, and reputational risk by supporting oversight and sales practice surveillance across insurance and/or securities distribution channels .

  • Proactively contributes to departmental initiatives, quality assurance reviews, process optimization efforts, and continuous improvement activities designed to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and overall maturity of the compliance surveillance program. ----Lead routine to complex reviews and investigations of potential agent misconduct, sales practice concerns, and elevated conduct risks by analyzing policy, customer, agent, and transaction information for patterns, trends, and risk indicators; evaluate activity for compliance with state insurance regulations, suitability requirements, replacement regulations, company standards, and market conduct expectations; and document findings, conclusions, recommendations, and rationale in a clear and defensible manner.
  • Determine and coordinate appropriate case outcomes, including additional monitoring, corrective action, remediation, escalation, or referral to Compliance, Legal, Distribution, Licensing, Fraud/SIU, or other business partners.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, pre-law or other relevant field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Five years of regulatory, securities, or advertising compliance experience.
  • Areas of experience desired may vary based upon assigned compliance functions and may include contract development, claims, underwriting, legal research, fraud or anti-money laundering investigations and/or communications.
  • Securities and some advertising industry positions require expert knowledge of the securities laws, regulations, rules, and applicable FINRA licensing. (Series 7 & 24 or Series 6 & 26, as applicable)
  • Written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

The Salary for this position generally ranges between $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
