Job summary

Clark College seeks an experienced Superintendent – Commercial Construction to oversee field operations in Southeast Michigan. You will work with the Project Manager to lead daily on-site activities, coordinating trade contractors and ensuring progress meets safety, quality, and schedule standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong commercial construction background with proven on-time delivery and excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in construction mgmt, engineering, or related field.
• Experience managing multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
• Strong organizational skills and process development.
• Solid understanding of construction operations and tools.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Excel, and data management tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate subcontractors in the field to align with plans and schedule.
• Develop field priorities and execution strategies with look‑ahead schedules.
• Direct day‑to‑day site activities managing subcontractors and vendors.
• Enforce safety standards and company policies on site.
• Monitor work for quality and compliance with plans and specs.
• Maintain records: daily reports, inspections, change notices, logs.
• Review subcontractor pay apps and change orders for budget impacts.
• Lead or participate in site meetings with owners and stakeholders.
• Track material delivery, inspection, and on-site storage.
