Job summary

The Toro Company is seeking a Lead CNC Maintenance Technician for night shift (11:00 PM–7:00 AM, Sunday–Thursday) to oversee preventive maintenance and repairs across CNC lathes, machining centers, presses, and welding robots at Ditch Witch facilities.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and service electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, read schematics, and use SAP for parts and work notifications. High school diploma and 5 years' experience required.

Qualifications

  • 5 years' experience in an industrial environment repairing and maintaining machine tools.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Reading electrical schematics and technical manuals is required.
  • Formal electrical, electronic, and mechanical training and/or relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on manufacturing equipment.
  • Disassemble and reassemble machines using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Inspect and repair CNC and PC-based control systems and servo systems.
  • Read electrical schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues.
  • Service and maintain air conditioners and refrigeration units on equipment.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance and lubrication.
  • Use SAP to locate parts and process work notifications.
  • Assist Purchasing with purchase orders.
  • Lead small groups to complete tasks and train others.

Night Shift, 11:00 PM-7:00 AM, Sunday-Thursday
Typical starting pay, $28.50/hr.-$32.00/hr., plus $2.50 shift differential
Lead CNC Maintenance Technician At Ditch Witch
This employee will oversee the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all different types of manufacturing equipment including CNC controlled lathes, machining centers, presses, and welding robots at all Ditch Witch locations. This person will also perform other duties as assigned.

What Will You Do?

Troubleshoot & repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system problems on all types of manufacturing equipment. This may include
  • Listening to, observing, and operating machines
  • Analyzing performance and diagnosing the problem.
  • Disassembling and reassembling equipment using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Identify and repair or replace components.
  • Climb on and crawl under and inside machines.
  • Work at heights, in tight quarters, and in awkward positions.
  • Use diagnostic equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, chart recorders, precision measuring devices and other test instruments.
  • Diagnose and repair CNC and PC based computer control systems and closed loop servo systems.
  • Read information from electrical schematics, technical manuals, and written instructions.
  • Service and maintain air conditioners and refrigeration units on manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including lubrication, on manufacturing equipment.
  • Increase the overall skill level of the department by learning new skills and training others.
  • Use computers (SAP) to locate parts and process work notifications.
  • Help Purchasing Specialist with Purchase Orders.

What Do You Need?

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 5 years' experience working in industrial environment, repairing, and maintaining machine tools required.
  • Formal electrical, electronic, and mechanical training and/or relevant experience required.
  • Perform geometric alignments on machine tools.
  • Meet typical expectations for safety, productivity, attendance, and quality of work.
  • Able to handle multiple and/or complex tasks effectively.
  • Work well with others, including leading small groups to complete tasks.
  • Have appropriate reading, clerical and computer skills, with knowledge of SAP.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.
Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, with variable temperature and humidity, noise, and dirt).
  • Physical hazards such as powered vehicles, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, powered machinery, live electrical circuits of up to 480 volts, sharp objects, and moving machinery.
  • Working with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, and coolant.
  • During emergencies, shifts of up to 12 hours.
  • Changing workloads, overtime, and priorities (at times changing with short notice).
  • Some travel (air and highway) to off-site training schools.
  • Close cooperation with managers and operators.
  • Regularly lift and position parts weighing up to 25 pounds & occasionally over 50 pounds.
Essential Physical Functions:

The physical demands for this job are classified as medium and include the following:
  • Be able to regularly handle items weighing up to 60 pounds from floor to knuckle.
  • Be able to regularly pull or push items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Be able to regularly lift items weighing up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder.
  • Be able to regularly lift items weighing up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead.
  • Job requires frequent walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Job requires occasional sitting, twisting, elevated work, and continuous standing.
