Job summary

The HEICO Companies in Exeter, NH is seeking a Lead CNC Machinist to lead the production of complex aluminum components for aerospace and defense. You will train and supervise machinists within the work cell and drive quality and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities include start-to-finish set-up and prove-out, in-process inspection, reading drawings, and supporting continuous improvement. This role reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor/Manager and emphasizes safety.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead machinists and drive quality.
  • Experience with CNC milling and precision aluminum components.
  • Familiarity with reading drawings, travelers, and setup sheets.
  • Capable of basic edits to CNC programs on Fanuc controls.

  • Train employees and provide performance assessment feedback to Supervisor.
  • Operate multiple CNC milling machines and perform in-process inspection on production jobs using micrometers, calipers and Tesa-Hite.

  • Participate in continuous improvement.
  • Provide first-line technical support to machinists for machined components and manufacturing issues.

This is a critical role within the manufacturing team and requires a detailed mind set. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Start to finish set-up and prove out of machined components to receive first piece acceptance while meeting required time constraints.
  • Train employees and provide performance assessment feedback to Supervisor.
  • Operate multiple CNC milling machines and perform in process inspection on production jobs using micrometers, calipers and Tesa-Hite.

EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 5+ years of CNC experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead other machinists.
  • Strong knowledge in all aspects of producing top quality precision aluminum components.
  • Ability to work with internal drawings, travelers, set up sheets, proper fixturing, offset and tool setting, and prove-out of programs.
  • Perform basic edits to programs on Fanuc controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve highly technical problems.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate machine controls, tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and components weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required to load, unload, and inspect parts and equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Ability to visually inspect parts, interpret and read blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and use gauges, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, dimensions, and surface defects when performing quality inspections.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment in a fast-paced production setting while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and other equipment as required.
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to machine noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, including overtime as required.
Work Environment

Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment. Frequent interaction with machine tools, raw materials, and finished products. Compliance with all company safety policies, housekeeping requirements, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention practices. Required use of appropriate PPE and adherence to all safety procedures.
