Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with CNC metal-cutting equipment and machining centers.
• Experience in CNC Applications Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering or similar machining roles.
• Knowledge of CNC programming, G-code, tooling, feeds and speeds, and process optimization.
• Experience developing machining processes from prints to production.
• Multi-axis machining knowledge; 4-axis, 5-axis, Swiss, mill-turn valued.
• Experience with at least one major CNC control (Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak, OSP or Haas; Fanuc preferred).
• Experience with CAM software and offline CNC programming.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex machining, programming, tooling, workholding, and process-related challenges.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts with customers, engineers, sales and leadership.
• Mentoring or training of other engineers, programmers, or machinists.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead and senior resource for the CNC Applications Engineering team.
• Mentor and develop Applications Engineers and share machining knowledge and best practices.
• Coordinate team workload, customer projects, machine installations, demonstrations and training.
• Lead complex applications projects and act as escalation point.
• Develop and optimize CNC processes, tooling, workholding, feeds and speeds, and cycle times.
• Support machine installations, prove-outs, runoff activities, and customer acceptance.
• Collaborate with customers to evaluate parts, prints, tolerances, materials and production needs.
• Assist Sales with technical expertise during evaluations, demonstrations and benchmarking.
• Evaluate machine configurations, tooling, workholding, automation, and peripheral equipment.
• Deliver or oversee customer training on machine operation, programming and processes.
• Collaborate with Sales, Service, Engineering and Product teams to resolve issues.
• Establish and improve applications engineering standards, processes and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve machine performance, cycle times, and quality.
• Stay current on CNC technology, controls, tooling, CAM software and automation.
• Travel regionally up to 25%.
