Job summary

Abbott Laboratories seeks a Principal Clinical Molecular Geneticist to review clinical DNA test data, interpret variants, and sign out reports. This role maintains a portfolio of sequencing tests and guides a genetics team in process improvements.

You will curate gene panels, drive quality and efficiency, mentor colleagues, and promote collaboration while adhering to SOPs and regulatory standards. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
• Board certification in ABB/HCLD, ABMGG, or CCMG by hire.
• MD/DO with 3+ years in clinical lab oversight.
• Experience in high-complexity genetic testing.
• Current New York state Certificate of Qualification or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Review genetic testing data, interpret variants, and sign genetic test reports.
• Curate gene panels with literature-supported lists.
• Lead process-improvement projects to drive cost savings, efficiencies, and productivity.
• Coach and develop others; promote cross-functional collaboration.
• Travel up to 10% and represent the company at conferences.
