Job summary

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist Senior at Baptist Health Care conducts high-complexity testing and reports results per approved protocols, ensuring patient care standards are met. This role includes instrument maintenance, quality control, and support for a busy laboratory department in northwest Florida.

Responsibilities extend to supervising in the absence of leaders, coordinating staffing, ordering supplies, and helping with policy/procedure development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent required for Florida license.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Laboratory Technologist experience.
• Florida State license as Clinical Lab Technologist or ASCP certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-complexity tests on blood, tissue, and body fluids across hematology, microbiology, and clinical chemistry.
• Oversees daily laboratory operations, manages staff assignments, and may assume supervisor/manager duties in absence.
• Implements and monitors QC and QA programs to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Trains and mentors new employees and students, assesses staff competency, and provides technical guidance.
• Calibrates and maintains sophisticated laboratory instrumentation and resolves advanced technical problems.
