Job summary

University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC) seeks a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to schedule, train, and coordinate staff while performing waived testing. The role includes loading and maintaining instrumentation and assisting in clinical departments under supervision.

The candidate should have a high school diploma, 1 year of lab assistant experience, and must obtain a Nevada POC Testing Analyst license within 8 months. BLS may be required for some positions.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and 1 year of experience as a lab assistant.
• Must obtain valid State of Nevada license as a Point of Care Testing Analyst within eight months of employment.
• Some positions may require Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Three (3) years of recent documented Laboratory experience.
• Six (6) months of recent documented Specimen Processing experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, trains and coordinates other Clinical Laboratory Assistants and performs the functions of the Clinical Laboratory Assistant.
• Performs waived testing.
• Loads instrumentation and performs maintenance for instrumentation.
• Assists in clinical department(s).
