Job summary

West Texas A&M University seeks a non-tenured, full-time Instructor of Speech & Hearing Sciences and Director of Clinical Education in Canyon, TX, starting January 2027 for the spring semester. The role combines academic teaching with clinical leadership, focusing on graduate experiences and accreditation.

You will oversee clinical practica, advance simulations and community-based learning, and ensure alignment with ASHA standards while teaching 1–2 courses per long semester and guiding

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in speech-language pathology or related field and ASHA CCC-SLP credentials.
• Texas licensure eligibility or active licensure is required or obtainable.
• 2–3 years of clinical practice as a speech-language pathologist preferred.
• Experience with teaching, supervision, and program development is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach 1–2 didactic courses per long semester and supervise first-year graduate students clinically.
• Coordinate and supervise graduate student placements with external community—state and nation.
• Develop, propose, and implement policies for clinical practica in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Lead and participate in accreditation tasks, and assist with program assessment and outcomes.
• Maintain documentation, contracts, and affiliation agreements for practica.
• Engage in recruitment, scholarly activities, and service to support departmental missions.
