Job summary

Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits in Raleigh, NC is seeking an Accounting Clerk to provide guidance to clerks, ensure GAAP compliance, and support general ledger activities.

The role involves training AP clerks, reconciling accounts, processing EFTs, and generating reports. Strong Excel skills and 2+ years of accounting experience are required. This full-time position offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth within the company.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Train Accounts Payable Clerks to handle calls and issues.
• Resolve escalated customer issues per guidelines.

• Reconcile Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt clearing accounts.
• Respond to inquiries via telephone, email, or fax.
• Code and enter accounting information into the accounting system.
• Sort, file, and maintain accounts payable files and related documents.
• Research and resolve accounting errors.
• Print accounts payable reports.
• Assist in updating ledgers, journals, and/or accounts.
• Process MAP update requests for materials from warehouses.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Act as liaison between team members and management.

Overview

Provide guidance to the accounting clerk (s) and recommends actions as it relates to specific transactions, reconciliations, and analysis. Develops standard and non‑standard reports or analyses and address problematic issues and activities related to general ledger accounts. Examine transactions to ensure accounting methods are consistent and compliant.

Primary Responsibilities

• Train Accounts Payable Clerks to handle all calls and issues presented
• Resolve escalated customer issues in a timely and efficient manner according to company guidelines
• Assist in processing claims for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) vendors by reviewing quantities from receiving and invoicing
• Perform Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt clearing account reconciliation by researching and determining the proper course of action to resolve differences
• Respond to customer and vendor inquiries regarding account information via telephone, email, and/or fax
• Code and enter accounting information into the accounting system
• Sort, file, and maintain accounts payable files and related documents
• Research and resolve accounting errors
• Print accounts payable reports
• Assist with updating and reconciling ledgers, journals, and/or accounts
• Process federal beverage tax matching to purchase orders and feedback on materials that have variances
• Assist in processing Moving Average Price (MAP) update requests for materials from warehouses
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members
• Act as liaison between team members and management
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency plus 2 years of experience
• Knowledge with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal regulatory guidelines, and organizational objectives
• Proficiency using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets in creating pivot tables, develop charts, and complex formulas

• Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or adding machine
• Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
• May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
