Google’s DeepMind team is seeking a Chemist Lead to guide a group of chemists and SMEs within the CBRNE umbrella. You will ensure that Gemini’s growing scientific capabilities advance safely, guiding policy, designing evaluations, and shaping mitigation strategies to prevent misuse while enabling legitimate science.

You will represent DeepMind’s chemical security interests to senior leaders and external stakeholders, translating complex results for diverse audiences while advancing safe AI

Qualifikationen

• PhD in chemistry, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience with national or international chemical security organisations.
• Experience with national security or defense orgs on technical chemical matters.
• Experience with LLMs in daily workflows and applying LLMs to scientific problems.

Aufgaben

• Lead design and execution of chemical evaluations to understand max capabilities of AI models.
• Provide mitigations to ensure chemical safety while minimizing impact on legitimate science.
• Partner with chemists, researchers, engineers and ethics experts to embed safety in development lifecycle.
• Communicate results to audiences from varied expertise up to senior decision-makers.
• Shape broader chemical security mitigation strategies and guardrails.
