GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates. This position involves proactively collaborating, leading, and influencing peers. The Lead Cashier drives loyalty results, including credit, focusing on performance (sales, guest experience, and loyalty), people (guest service, and associate training and development), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards with an emphasis on cashiering). The Lead Cashier supports the leadership team with register functions, associate exit inspections, cashier chat ins/outs, and requires a passion for guest experience, process excellence, and delivering exceptional results by engaging every guest on our Loyalty Life Cycle, contributing positively to store goals.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by providing a guest-friendly environment, greeting and engaging each guest, personalizing service, and recommending products or services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Assist guests with makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Book appointments and support in-store events to deliver an outstanding guest experience while meeting sales targets.
• Maintain replenishment, organization, and readiness of all cashwrap displays and supplies.
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Assist leadership with cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, and motivate team members to do the same.
• Train new cashiers and cross-train associates in cashiering.
• Lead peers to achieve productivity and performance goals.
• Ensure cashier accountability and follow Ulta Beauty’s systems.
• Participate in ongoing training to improve professional development and sales performance.
• Collaborate with store team to grow the business.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s dress code.
• Complete all transactions accurately, including returns and media control.
• Perform register open/close functions as directed.
• Maintain store cleanliness and standards throughout the store.
• Protect assets and minimize loss through adherence to operational procedures.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience

• 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to delegate, multitask, and solve problems.
• Passion for guest service and sales.
