GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates. This position drives loyalty results, including credit, through performance (sales, guest experience, and loyalty), people (guest service, associate training and development), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). The Lead Cashier supports the leadership team with register functions, associate inspections, and cashier chat ins/outs, requiring a passion for guest experience, process excellence, and delivering results by engaging every guest on our Loyalty Life Cycle.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The LC champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrating them consistently through the following duties and responsibilities, as well as other assigned tasks:

Performance

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Ensure exceptional service by greeting and engaging each guest, personalizing service, and recommending products/services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Assist guests with makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and experience.
• Book appointments and support in-store events to deliver an outstanding guest experience and sales.
• Maintain replenishment and organization of all cashwrap displays, supplies, and fixtures.
• Maintain regular attendance.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Assist with cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, to guests and team members.
• Help train new cashiers and cross-train associates.
• Engage and influence peers to achieve performance goals.
• Drive cashier accountability and participate in ongoing training.
• Collaborate with store team to grow the business.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Adhere to dress code.
• Complete all transactions accurately and control cash/media according to policies.
• Perform register opening and closing functions as directed.
• Maintain store cleanliness and standards, including at the cashwrap and in common areas.
• Protect assets and minimize loss through adherence to standards.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience

• 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination preferred.
• Ability to delegate, multitask, and problem-solve.
• Passion for guest service and selling.
• Experience in addressing guest concerns professionally.
• Experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be 18 or older to hold the Lead Cashier role.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility throughout the store during shifts.
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), and manipulation of objects.
