Lead Carpenter (Long Beach, CA)

Rock Steady Productions is seeking a skilled Lead Carpenter to join our Fabrication team. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for supervising carpentry staff, overseeing installations, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong woodworking expertise, proven leadership experience, and thrives in a fast‑paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead shop carpenters and installation crews, delegating tasks and monitoring workflow.
  • Train and mentor carpenters, helpers, and installers on best practices and safety procedures.
  • Lead on‑site setup, installation, and breakdown of scenic, architectural, and branded elements.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, renderings, and technical documentation.
  • Perform hands‑on carpentry, assembly, and disassembly of structures.
  • Coordinate schedules and priorities with project managers to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional shop and job site environment.
  • Enforce and promote safety compliance with OSHA and company policies.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of carpentry experience, including 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of scenic fabrication, rough and finish carpentry, and woodworking methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Skilled with woodworking tools, machinery, and fabrication techniques.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a personal set of hand tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights.
  • Experience in event production, themed entertainment, or custom fabrication preferred.
