Job summary

Minnesota Cannabis Services is seeking a Construction Project Manager to open cannabis retail locations on schedule and on budget. You will manage preconstruction through turnover, coordinating with architects, engineers, and inspectors, and oversee contractors while staying on-site to verify progress and conditions.

The role covers permitting, budgeting, change control, and collaboration across cultivation, manufacturing, wholesale, transport, and delivery projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience delivering commercial ground-up or tenant-improvement projects from preconstruction through certificate of occupancy.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals.

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction & Planning: own master schedule, budgets, scope documents; coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants.
• Permitting, Plan Review & Inspections: run full permitting process; respond to reviewer comments; manage inspections to occupancy.
• Budget, Cost & Change Control: own the project budget; track costs; review and document change orders; secure approvals.
• Contractors & Contracts: prepare bid packages; qualify GCs and trades; ensure insurance and licensing; document performance.
• In the Field: visit active sites; verify progress and conformance; manage RFIs and submittals; enforce safety.
• Retail Store Buildouts: deliver stores from lease to grand opening; coordinate finishes and tech scope.
• Special Projects: manage cannabis cultivation, manufacturing, wholesale, transport builds; coordinate across sites.
• Closeout: drive punch list; deliver closeout docs; turnover to Facilities; conduct post-project review.
