Job summary

HCA Florida West Tampa Hospital is seeking a Lead Mental Health Technician to support basic patient care in behavioral health under RN supervision. You'll help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment, assist with crisis intervention and daily living activities, and act as a positive role model for patient socialization.

The role includes performing vitals, glucose testing, and coordinating patient processing. A collaborative team with a focus on care excellence awaits you.

Qualifications

• BCLS certification required within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
• Fingerprinting required before start date.
• PCT training within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height/weight, intake and output, calorie counts.
• Establish effective rapport with patients.
• Observe, monitor and protect patient safety; escorting patients and restraints if needed.
• Perform bedside glucose testing and collection of lab samples as needed.
• Assist RN to collect data from patients on admission and for discharge preparations.
• Provide a positive role model for developing socialization skills.
• Coordinate and participate in group activities and encourage patient interaction.
